Nutrition Services

Nutrition visits are available in all our offices with our Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who specializes in nutrition. The Center for Advanced Pediatrics provides normal and therapeutic dietary counseling for patients from newborn until 25 years of age. Appointments are available for things such as parents thinking about introducing solids to their infant, a child who wants to become a vegetarian, children who have food allergies, celiac disease (gluten intolerance), inappropriate weight gain or loss, poor growth, diabetes (type 1 or 2), insulin resistance, hypoglycemia, unhealthy lipid levels (LDL, HDL, triglycerides and/or total cholesterol), polycystic ovary syndrome, gastrointestinal issues or for those who merely eat an unbalanced or restrictive diet.

At TCFAP we believe and support health and wellness throughout infancy, childhood, adolescence and young adulthood. Getting the right start is critical in maintaining healthy weights and body performance as well as disease prevention. We offer and highly recommend preventative nutrition visits at 8 months, 2 ½ years of age and 3 ½ years of age. Recent studies significantly show vulnerability towards obesity is between 2 and 6 years of age. It is very important families understand these principles to ensure their children the best opportunity in living a healthy and happy lifestyle. We are here to help and guide you every step of the way !!!!!!

Cholesterol and Lipid Management:

Hypercholesterolemia and heart disease is increasing in our society. Family history and genetics play an important role in both early diagnosis and nutritional and medical management. At The Center for Advanced Pediatrics, we evaluate all of our patients for hyperlipidemia beginning at 5 years of age and checking every 3 years unless those results have been abnormal.

Any child with elevated lipids/cholesterol will be referred to our Pediatric Nurse Practitioner who specializes in Nutrition.
