COVID-19 Vaccination Update
COVID-19 Vaccination Update

So many of our families are eager to get their children ages 5 and up protected against COVID-19. That is terrific news!

Initially, The Center for Advanced Pediatrics anticipated getting the pediatric vaccine quickly to help our families get vaccinated, but that has not happened. Although we have been working with local and state health authorities for months now, large pharmacies have been prioritized for distribution of the vaccine. WalgreensCVS and Walmart have all been delivering the pediatric vaccine with great success.

Because of this convenient availability, we urge our families to use these pharmacies to receive the vaccine as soon as possible. As we are unsure when our offices will receive the vaccine, we strongly recommend families get protected as soon as possible through another resource.

Children who are 5 should receive their vaccine at a local WalgreensCVSWalmart or other locations as soon as possible. If you are unsure of a vaccine location near you, please click here

When your child receives the vaccination, be sure to retain the proof of vaccination card. Using your patient portal, please send us a message with a photo of the card, or the numbers on the card so we can enter it into your child’s medical records.

When we do receive the vaccine in our offices, we will notify all our patient families immediately.

Your trusted health care providers at The Center for Advanced Pediatrics urge you to get your eligible children vaccinated. The vaccinations are safe and very effective in preventing serious illness and long-term health problems. Vaccinations will:

Protect kids against the virus
While most incidents of COVID in children are mild, some otherwise very healthy children have experienced long-term, life changing complications. Some children have died. Getting your child vaccinated saves lives.

Protect younger siblings
By getting vaccinated, your child is helping to protect siblings under the age of 5.

Protect loved ones
Grandparents and those with pre-existing conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure are at an elevated risk of developing serious complications from COVID, and the death rate is significantly higher.

Help stop the spread of COVID
For all of us, vaccination is the only way out of this global health crisis. Your child can be a vital hero when they get vaccinated – as are you! Without widespread vaccination, this virus will continue to evolve more and more dangerous and deadly variants. Even if your child has had COVID, make sure they are vaccinated when eligible to boost their immunity – and put a stop to this horrible illness.

If you have questions about the COVID-19 vaccine, we’re here to help. Please send a message through your patient portal and we’ll send you an evidence-based, accurate answer.
